First, we show experimentally that, when the frictional properties are anisotropic, the slider is subjected, in addition to the dissipative frictional force oriented along the trajectory, to a force, perpendicular to the trajectory, which thus does not contribute to energy dissipation. Therefore, the slider does not necessarily moves in the pulling direction. Second, we show that the trajectories of the slider, when in continuous motion, in absence of inertial effects, can be recovered by assuming that, at all time, the friction force compensates the pulling force. We point out that we prove experimentally that the normal component of the friction force is given as the derivative, with respect to the sliding direction, of the tangential component. This result is particularly interesting as the relation between the normal and the tangential components is compatible with “the maximum of energy release rate” criterion used in the theory of fracture.

Simultaneous Planar Transport of Multiple Objects on Individual Trajectories Using Friction Forces
Friction forces can be used to move objects along a planar horizontal surface by vibrating the surface with two degrees of freedom. The method presented here uses a combination of horizontal and vertical oscillations to produce a non-zero resulting friction force. Using this principle, objects can be moved along any horizontal direction with variable speed. If many small surface elements are pl...
متن کاملOptimization of variables of friction stir welding process with the aim of achieving the maximum fracture strength
In this research, lap joint frictionstir welding of IF sheets with thickness of 0.7 mm is investigated. For this purpose, mechanical properties of joints and also microstructural evolutions are studied. It was found that increase in tool rotational speed and decrease in travel speed results in increase in fracture stress of welded joints. Texture study indicates that no changes can be observed ...

A combined dynamical and statistical model for fission was employed in our calculation. There is no doubt that a Langevin description plus a Monte Carlo treatment of the evaporation processes provide the most adequate dynamical description. In this paper, we would consider a strongly shaped dependent friction force and we use the numerical method rather than the analytical one. The objective o...
متن کاملHydrodynamic equations of anisotropic, polarized and inhomogeneous superfluid vortex tangles
We include the effects of anisotropy and polarization in the hydrodynamics of inhomogeneous vortex tangles, thus generalizing the well known Hall-Vinen-Bekarevich-Khalatnikov equations, which do not take them in consideration. These effects contribute to the mutual friction force Fns between normal and superfluid components and to the vortex tension force ρsT. These equations are complemented b...
